Circuit | Short to Ground | Open/High Resistance | Short to Voltage | Signal Performance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Control | P1407 00 | P0404 00 | P1407 | P0404 00 |
Ground | - | P0405 00 | - | P0404 00 |
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is controlled by the engine control module (ECM) through the EGR solenoid. A reference voltage is supplied to the EGR valve solenoid. The ECM controls the solenoid by grounding the control circuit.
| • | The ignition is ON or the engine is running. |
| • | The DTCs run continuously when the above conditions are met. |
The ECM detects a stuck valve.
The EGR position sensor voltage is less than 0.26 V for more than 1 s.
The EGR position sensor voltage is more than 4.75 V for more than 3 s.
DTCs P0404 00, P0405 00, and P0406 00 are Type B DTCs.
DTCs P0404 00, P0405 00, and P0406 00 are Type B DTCs.

| ⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
| ⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
| ⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
| ⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
| ⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
